The Batho Pele Movement is a community-centered initiative committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and participatory governance in rural and under-served municipalities, including Mnquma and Mbhashe. Inspired by the Sesotho concept of “Batho Pele” (“People First”), the movement ensures that the voices, needs, and rights of citizens are placed at the heart of public service delivery.

We value an honest political culture that defies the normal political structures, focusing on addressing issues that affect the livelihood of our citizens by performing oversight, and raising awareness about the lack of efficient service delivery and the blatant disregard for value for money. Our model strongly supports the implementation of the Batho Pele Principles, which form the foundation of our framework.
